Kilmallie U17 won the National Macaulay Sixes after an entertaining day’s shinty at Mossfield, Oban on Saturday 3 November 2012.
A total of sixteen teams entered this popular competition and they were drawn into two groups. The day’s shinty started at 12 noon.
2011 winners Lochaber and Skye Camanachd qualified from Group A which also included; Aberdour, Beauly, Kinlochshiel, Lovat, Newtonmore and Oban Celtic.
Kilmallie and Fort William progressed from Group B as they finished ahead of; Caberfeidh, Inverness, Kilmory, Kingussie, Lochbroom and Oban Camanachd.
Kilmallie beat Skye Camanachd 2-0 in their semi-final with Lochaber over-coming Fort William in their last-four encounter.
Skye Camanachd finished ahead of Fort William in third place.
Kilmallie and Lochaber could not be separated in the final and with the game scoreless; the outcome was decided by a penalty shoot-out. That too was a dramatic affair with Kilmallie eventually running out 8-7 sudden death winners.
Kilmallie captain Frankie Innes was presented with the trophy by Camanachd Association Director Charles Young.
And just to round off a good day for the Canal Parks side, Kilmallie’s Martin Munro was named player of the tournament.
