Kenny “Nostie” MacLeod Memorial Shinty Match | |
03 July 2012 A memorial shinty match for the Reverend Kenny MacLeod will take place on 29 September 2012. Kenny “Nostie” Macleod, as he was affectionately known, played shinty for Kinlochshiel, Lochcarron and Aberdeen University. He established Thurso Junior Shinty Club in 2006 and he was a co-founder of Navar Athletic Shinty Club a couple of years later. This move brought senior shinty to Caithness for the first time since the Dounreay team of the 1960s. Many will recall the 2010 Mod Cup match when Kenny captained Caithness to victory over and Sutherland. Kenny was presented with the famous trophy by his good friend, former MSP John Farquhar Munro. The venue for the Kenny “Nostie” MacLeod memorial shinty match has still to be announced. However it has been confirmed that the game will be a re-run of the 2010 Mod Cup clash between Caithness and Sutherland. There will also be a memorial service for Kenny in Kyle Free Church on Thursday 12 July 2012 at 7.30pm where donations can be made to the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. |
