SCOTS Camanachd went down 2-1 to Strathglass at Cannich on Tuesday 24 April 2012.
The match was played in terribly wet conditions and the forces side took a first half lead when Caberfeidh’s Paul Ross scored with a well taken 20 yard drive.
Lee Bain and Andrew Fraser both played for SCOTS Camanachd in the first half and but they switched sides at half time and this was to have a big impact on the outcome of the game.
Strathglass squared the game thanks for a well struck effort from Ally Rothe.
The winner was an equally well struck shot from young Strathglass forward Josh Fraser.
Skye Camanachd duo Darryl Macintosh and Iain Munro played very well for the SCOTS.
This annual challenge match is played in memory of 21 year old Strathglass and SCOTS player Scott Bain who died following a road accident near Kingussie just a day after watching his brother Lee Bain (now Kingussie) score the opening goal for Strathglass in the Balliemore Cup Final win over Kinlochshiel in Rothesay on Saturday 18 July 2009.
Scott Bain served with the 4th Battalion the Regiment of Scotland and had served duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. Scott trained at Cannich with his former Strathglass team-mates during the week leading up to the Balliemore Cup Final and had in the past trained with Kingussie. He was an important member and top performer for the SCOTS shinty team.
Strathglass won the 2010 match, coming out 4-3 as doubles from Robert Geddes and Garry Reid cancelled out goals from Lee Bain, former Scotland Head Coach Fraser MacKenzie and former Skye Camanachd player Ronnie MacKinnon.
