Co-operative MacTavish Cup Final Coverage Strikes A Positive Note. | |
19 June 2012 The Co-operative MacTavish Cup Final between Lochaber and Newtonmore on Saturday 16 June 2012 received much positive media coverage. With the camera work free from the unfortunate problems which beset the Badenoch derby between Kingussie and Newtonmore, the television coverage on BBC Alba was of a very good standard. Hugh Dan MacLennan returned behind the commentators microphone and both he and Somhairle MacDonald provided and incisive and knowledgeable comment. Radio nan Gaidheal provided radio coverage and commentator Gilleasbuig MacDonald was both decisive and descriptive in his coverage and he was ably assisted by Iain Campbell, Eoghan Stewart and Doneil MacLeod. Eddie Tembo got the short straw, pitch-side in the rain. The game was also covered by MFR with commentary from Duncan Chisholm and comment from Scotland boss Drew Mcneil and Camanachd Association Youth Director Callum Duff. Cuillin FM kept west coast radio listeners up to date on proceeding and their particular focus was on lunchtime MacTavish Juvenile Cup Final meeting between Kinlochshiel U17 and Skye Camanachd U17. Add fine newspaper and photographic coverage of the senior final (with excellent pictures from both junior games) and it looks as if the shinty was well promoted in the media world. If only we could attract such media coverage every week. |
