The Camanachd Association is consulting Marine Harvest North Division 1 sides on the proposal of a third round of fixtures ahead of the 2012 shinty season.
Marine Harvest North Division 1 was an eight team league during 2011 and two rounds of fixtures gave each club fourteen matches.
However with Kinlochshiel promoted to shinty's top flight, coupled with two south sides relegated from the Scottish Hydro Premier Division and no promotion from Marine Harvest North Division 2, means that Marine Harvest North Division 1 will only have seven teams for the 2012 shinty season. This will only give each side twelve league matches from two rounds of fixtures.
A proposal to have a "third fixture" to raise the number of league matches to eighteen has already been agreed by the Camanachd Association Competitions Working Group and has also been agreed in principal by the Camanachd Association Board.
It is intended that each team would have three additional home matches and three additional away games and clubs have been asked to confirm whether they are agreeable to the proposal.
