Callum Duff Makes Strathglass Switch | |
27 June 2012 Callum Duff will return to his first club Strathglass after stepping down this week as a committee member at Beauly Shinty Club. Duff will also step down from his refereeing duties so that he can concentrate on his new position with the Cannich side. He will provide assistance to Strathglass first team manager Robert Geddes and is looking forward to getting to grips with his new role. “I was quite humbled when Strathglass got in touch,” said Duff. “I’ll be helping out Robert (Geddes) with the first team and for me it’s returning home to the club I used to play for. I’m not working away from home as often just now which makes this possible. It is a challenge that I’m looking forward to at the club which gave me my chance in shinty. It gives me the chance to go back to my roots. I’d like to thank the Beauly committee members who were very good about this and totally understood my position when I spoke to them about it.” The new role means that Duff will also have to step down from his duties as a Camanachd Association referee. “I was really enjoying the refereeing,” said Duff, “but I’ll need to put that to one side for now.” Callum Duff will not be in the Strathglass camp for this weekend’s game against Skye Camanachd at Cannich as he has a prior commitment with Beauly but he will join them for their next game. He also remains as a member of the Camanachd Association Board of Directors and continues in his duties as Youth Director. |
