Caberfeidh 3 Skye Camanachd 3 | |
28 August 2012 A last minute goal from Chris Rose earned Skye Camanachd a 3-3 draw with Caberfeidh in Marine Harvest North Division 1 on Saturday 25 August 2012. Skye manager Willie MacRae made a couple of changes from the squad which beat Lochcarron the previous week. Injury ruled out Steven Morrison whilst Daniel Morrison dropped down to the second team. Neil MacVicar took over Morrison’s full back role with Jamie MacDonald starting in defence. Captain Shockie MacLennan was back after injury and Will Cowie was recalled from the second team and they both started on the bench. Skye took an 8 minute lead when Danny Morrison turned the Cabers full back and shot past keeper Donald Mellis. The home side levelled on 28 minutes when Skye lost possession in a dangerous area and a cross to the back post was turned into the net by Kevin Bartlett. Bartlett got his second on 35 minutes when he was allowed too much space and he sent a shot from distance past Skye keeper Jamie Gannon to put the home side 2-1 in front. Skye made it 2-2 with just 12 minutes remaining. Shaun Hedley pushed forward and fired in a shot which Donald Mellis saved with his feet. The ball spun in the air Jordan Murchison sent a sublime half-volley over the keeper’s shoulder, into the back of the net. Cabers looked to have sealed the points a minute from time when Kevin Bartlett lost his marker and released the ball to Blair Morrison who sent a fine drive into the top corner of the net. However with seconds remaining, referee Deek Cameron awarded the Islanders a free hit on the edge of the D. Substitute Aonghas MacDonald took it and he played in full centre Chris Rose who ran onto the pass and caught the ball sweetly from a tight angle on the right and lashed it across the face of the goal into the far side of the net to make it 3-3. The point keeps Skye at the top of the table. However their advantage over Lochaber is now cut to three points and the Spean Bridge men have three games in hand.
