What A Difference Four Weeks Makes For Newtonmore Captain Jamie Robinson | |
15 September 2013 Newtonmore captain Jamie Robinson had one of these days that dreams are made of as he captained Newtonmore to Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup success against Kyles Athletic at An Aird on Saturday 14 September 2013. Speaking to the BBC’s Jonathon Sutherland just moments after being presented with the trophy, an emotional Robinson said, “What a feeling, I can’t put it into words. It’s unbelievable. I’ve dreamt of this moment and I’ve played this moment over and over in my head for years, since I was a little boy. To pick up the Camanachd Cup as captain of the club you love, and to cap it off with the man of the match award, is just unbelievable. The Camanachd Cup is the pinnacle of the sport and this is the one we wanted.” However Just four weeks earlier, Robinson had been sent off during Newtonmore’s Artemis Macaulay Cup Final defeat to Kyles Athletic. He served a two match suspension before returning to the field in the 3-1 win over Kinlochshiel last weekend which clinched the Orion Group Premiership for the fourth year in a row. He followed that up by scoring the opening goal of the Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Final and won the Albert Smith medal as man of the match before he stepped up to raise the Camanachd Cup and captain’s silver mounted caman in front of his jubilant team mates in what was a day he’ll never forget. |
