04 July 2015 The Skye Camanachd first and second teams top their respective leagues following this week’s shinty action. The Skye Camanachd first team came from a goal down to beat Beauly 2-1 in their Marine Harvest National Division match at Braeview Park on Saturday 4 July 2015. Sean Stewart gave the home side a 4 minute lead and it took a couple of fine saves from Skye goalie Iain MacLeod to keep his side in the game. Skye settled into the match and Jordan Murchison equalised with just 5 first half minutes remaining. And that’s the way it stayed until 6 minutes from time when Jordan Murchison grabbed the winning goal which sends Skye to the top of the table. The Skye Camanachd second team go top of Marine Harvest North Division 2 after they beat Lewis Camanachd 9-1 at Shawbost on Saturday 4 July 2015. Angie MacDonald was Skye’s top scorer with four goals. There were first goals at this level for Skye U17 players Ross Nicolson, back from injury, and Ryan Morrison, from the penalty spot. The youth theme continued with a first goal at reserve team level from Skye U14 player Ruairidh MacLeod. Skye U17 player John Gillies also scored with Calum Gibb getting the other. The Skye Camanachd Ladies did not have a fixture but they did have thirteen players at the WCA Development Camp at Strathallan over the weekend. Skye Camanachd U17 did not have a fixture. Skye Camanachd U14 were to play Kinlochshiel U14 in a MacMaster Cup quarter-final tie at Kirkton on Wednesday 3 July 2015. However the match was postponed because of an unplayable field. |
