Boleskine 3 Lochcarron 4 Boleskine’s Smith Park was ruled unplayable so their game with Lochcarron was switched to Milburn Academy with a 2.30pm throw up. This was an exciting contest with Lochcarron eventually running out 4-3 winners. Peter MacKenzie and Kieran Murray scored for Lochcarron whilst Ronnie Cameron, back in the side, netted twice. Lochaber 6 Fort William 2 The Lochaber and Fort William first teams contested the Glen Mhor Cup in a 1pm throw up at Spean Bridge. Ally Ferguson’s Lochaber side won the day with a 6-2 triumph in a match refereed by Deek Cameron. Stuart Callison followed up last week’s hat-trick against Kilmallie by scoring five times in this one. Shaun Nicolson got the other home goal. Bryan Simpson and Alexander MacMillan scored for Fort William.
Inverness 0 Kilmallie 4 The visitors came out on top as the Inverness and Kilmallie second teams met in a 1pm throw up at the Bught Park. Donald MacRae put Kilmallie ahead with Craig MacIsaac making it 2-0. Another Donald MacRae goal and a strike from Jamie Maceachen sealed the 4-0 win.
Kilmallie 1 Oban Camanachd 1 (Kilmallie won on penalties) Kilmallie won the BSW Cup but it took a penalty shoot-out to finally see off Oban Camanachd in their 1pm throw up at the Canal Park. This was a second preseason outing for both sides with Kilmallie drawing 4-4 with Lochaber last weekend and Oban Camanachd beating Inveraray 5-0. Daniel Cameron put Oban Camanachd ahead but Michael Rodger got Kilmallie back on level terms. This was a really close encounter and Kilmallie eventually took the honours following a 2-1 win in the penalty shoot-out. Oban Camanachd hit the bar with their opening penalty whilst Duncan Rodger scored for Kilmallie. Kilmallie keeper Shane Gillies saved the second Oban penalty but Kilmallie’s Grant MacKenzie put his spot-hit wide of target. When Oban Camanachd scored their third penalty and Alan MacDonald missed for Kilmallie, the sides were level at 1-1. An Oban miss and a Michael Rodger goal gave Kilmallie the advantage and keeper when Shane Gillies saved Oban Camanachd’s final penalty, the victory was Kilmallie’s.
Kingussie 4 Caberfeidh 2 Kingussie captain Lee Bain lifted the WJ MacPherson Shield following his team’s 4-2 win over Caberfeidh in their 2pm throw up at the Dell. Thomas Borthwick’s return to the fold will be a boost for the Kingussie squad this season and he put his side a head on 28 minutes with a long-range back-hand drive which flew high into the net. Caberfeidh’s Scotland U21 international Blair Morrison levelled just 4 minutes later when he scored from close range. However Thomas Borthwick got his and Kingussie’s second when he tucked the ball home, again from close range, before the break. Ryan Borthwick made it 3-1 just 10 minutes after the restart and the same player made it 4-2 on 83 minutes. David Mellis pulled a goal back for Cabers a couple of minutes from time to make the final score 4-2. This was a good hard-fought game. Kingussie, who were without Garry Munro, Calum Grant and James Falconer, put in a pleasing team performance for the home support with Fraser Munro and scorers Thomas Borthwick and Ryan Borthwick particularly impressive. Caberfeidh were competitive throughout and Blair Morrison and Craig Morrison stood out for them.
Lochside Rovers P Lochaber P The friendly between Lochside Rovers and the Lochaber second team at Ganavan was postponed as Lochaber were unable to muster sufficient numbers to make the journey.
Lovat 8 Inverness 2 Marine Harvest Premiership side Lovat beat Inverness from the Marine Harvest National Division 8-2 at Balgate. This was a return to his former stomping ground for ex-Lovat boss Allan MacRae who now co-manages Inverness with Drew Mcneil. John MacRitchie’s Lovat side were along similar lines as last year although goalie Stuart MacDonald and twins Craig Mainland and Martin Mainland were missing. Greg Matheson started in goals. Inverness welcomed back former Lochcarron player Mark Sproule who missed last season. There was also a starting place for another ex-Lochcarron player, Calum MacKay. Inverness competed well during the first 20 minutes, creating a number of chances in front of the Lovat goal. The Highland Capital moved Dougie Rankin from defence to the forward line to try and capitalise on chances created. However it was Lovat who would go in front on 25 minutes when the Inverness defence tried to clear their lines and the ball bounced up in the air. Lewis Tawse, as he does often, kept his run forward going and he skilfully steered the ball into the net from close in to make it 1-1. The home goals then started to come at regular intervals. Kevin Bartlett turned Calum MacKay and he beat Inverness keeper Adam MacMaster from 25 yards out to make it 2-0. Lorne MacKay added a third when a deflected ball fell for him, unmarked near the penalty spot, and he had time to allow the ball to roll past him before striking it first time high into the net. Euan Ferguson lost his marker and had time to collect a pass and turn before running towards goal. With no one closing him down, Ferguson steadied himself and hit a rocket shot into the net to make it 4-0 at the interval. Greg Matheson came out of goal at the break, switching to full forward with Lorne MacKay taking his place between the sticks. However Lee Dunbar went into goals early second half as Lorne MacKay took over at full back from an injured Drew Howie. Lovat’s Ryan Ferguson, who was having an excellent game at wing centre, ran some distance with the ball before scoring from 30 yards out to make 5-0. Kevin Bartlett, who was playing on the right wing, appeared to lose the attentions of his marker and he popped up on the left to make it 6-0 from a tight angle. Lovat kept pressing and when a Kevin Bartlett shot rebounded off the post, Greg Matheson was alert and he ran in unchallenged to steer the ball over keeper Adam MacMaster and into the net to make it 7-0. A poor clearance from Lovat’s Lorne MacKay allowed James Cameron to score from inside the D to pull a goal back for the visitors. Inverness got a lift from their goal and, as they pushed forward, the Lovat defence struggled to clear the ball from a crowded penalty area and James Cameron took advantage to score his second from the edge of the D with keeper Lee Dunbar unable to react as the ball had come through a ruck of players. This made it 7-2. Kevin Bartlett completed his hat-trick when he ran unmarked onto a loose ball and his first-time shot from the edge of the box gave Adam MacMaster no chance and completed an 8-2 win.
Newtonmore 8 Inveraray 0 Newtonmore beat Inveraray 8-0 at the Eilan. Owen Fraser was in goal for Newtonmore; taking over from recently retired club stalwart Michael Ritchie. Doubles from Evan Menzies and Chris Sellar, Iain Robinson hat-trick and a Glen MacKintosh goal gave Newtonmore the win.
Oban Celtic 1 Fort William 2 The Fort William second team beat Oban Celtic 2-1 at Mossfield. The Fort benefited from a Grant Disher strike and an own goal. Neil Carmichael got the Oban Celtic goal.

Steven Hyslop and a Scott Douglas double countered for Strathglass in a game refereed by Calum Girvan.

Tayforth 5 Oban Lorn 0 Tayforth and Oban Lorn were left without a fixture when their original pre-season friendlies were postponed earlier in the week. Former Lochaber player Conor Sweeney scored twice for Tayforth with Orsten Gardiner, Finlay Stark and Graeme Ritchie also on target.
