11 January 2017 A centenary reflection on rifles, romance, shinty and World War 1 takes place at the Highland Archive Centre, Inverness on Thursday 9 February 2016. The night will comprise of an illustrated talk from Dr Hugh Dan MacLennan and Margaret MacKay which takes us into the Highland communities of 100 years ago. Family history and lore, an autograph book, sporting activities, music, photographs and military imperatives are all used to illuminate a story of Scotland, Canada and the Highlands which resonates to this day. There will also be entertainment from famous piper Duncan MacGillvray who recently piped Beauly and Lovat onto the pitch ahead of their New Year Lovat Cup clash. Admission is free and the event starts at 7.30pm. |
