Strathglass Ladies 3 Skye Camanachd Ladies 5 - UPDATED! | |
03 October 2013 Skye Camanachd Ladies will play-off against Lochaber Ladies for the WCA Marine Harvest North Division 2 title following their 5-3 win over Strathglass Ladies at Cannich on Sunday 29 September 2013. The Skye Ladies trailed Lochaber, who had completed their league programme, by two points going into this 1pm throw up so the Islanders needed a victory to force a league title play-off. Skyr didn’t make the best of starts as Andrea Fraser put Strathglass ahead after just 4 minutes. The home side continued to look a real threat. So much so that when Lorna MacRae equalised, it was very much against the run off play. Skye reshuffled their pack with Anna MacDonald coming on to join Lorna MacRae in attack. And she made an immediate impact, scoring with a fine finish before the half time break to make it 2-1. Strathglass made a good start to the second half and Hazel Hunter levelled the game at 2-2. The Strath went back in front when Andrea Fraser got her second goal of the afternoon to make it 3-2. Skye started to gain control of the centre line with Emma Gordon and Fiona Lamond dominating the game. Jenna Beaton squared the game once more at 3-3 and the momentum switched to the Islanders. Skye went back in front when Jenna Beaton broke through on goal. As keeper Tina Marshall raced from her line, the players collided and the ball seemed to be going into the net anyway but Lorna MacRae made sure to make it 4-3. Strath keeper Tina Marshall required treatment for the recurrence of a rib and Skye took full advantage and scored a fifth as Lorna MacRae completed her hat-trick before Marshall returned to the field of play. Skye and Lochaber now finish the league level on points at the top of the table so the title destination will be decided by a play-off at a neutral venue.
