Strachur To Take Year Out From Competitive Shinty | |
04 March 2016 Strachur will take a year out from competitive shinty, withdrawing from league and cup action ahead of the 2016 shinty season. The Strachurmore side hope to continue to field primary and U14 teams in school and youth competitions and they hope to rebuild their senior squad for future seasons. The Camanachd Association intend to meet with Strachur officials at the earliest opportunity to review the position and to discuss what support is available to assist the rebuilding process. Strachur were due to compete in Marine Harvest South Division 1 and the Gregor Cameron Consultancy Glasgow Celtic Society Cup competitions in 2016. Strachur’s withdrawal now leaves eight teams to contest Marine Harvest South Division 1 and gives Bute a bye in the first round of the Gregor Cameron Consultancy Glasgow Celtic Society Cup competition. The Camanachd Association do not intend to re-draw the league fixtures and teams scheduled to play Strachur will either have no game or a rescheduled fixture on that date. |
