07 August 2021 This week’s Skye Camanachd results are in! Skye Camanachd were 3-2 winners in their Mowi Senior League A meeting with Glenurquhart at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 7 August 2021. Skye opened towards the Braes end of the ground and they took a 9 minute lead when a wonderful Jamie Gillies reverse pass from a central position sent Jordan Murchison through and he finished well. The same two players combined once more as Murchison turned provider on 22 minutes when he played in Jamie Gillies who fired the ball high past Stuart MacKintosh from the right of the D to claim the family bragging rights. Just 4 minutes later, a superb long James Morrison ball from deep inside his own half found Iain MacLennan on the right of the D and he swept the ball home to make it 3-0 at the break. The Glen were never out of things though and Josh MacDonald-Haig turned home a rebound on 55 minutes with Connor Golabek shooting low into the net from the left a minute later to make it 3-2. Skye saw out the remainder of the game but the win came at a cost with Jordan Murchison picking up a hamstring injury and Ross Gordon suffering a suspected broken thumb. We wish both players well. The Skye Camanachd second team lost 4-1 after extra-time against the Fort William second team in their Strathdearn Cup second round tie at An Aird on Saturday 7 August 2021. Somhairle MacDonald put Skye ahead after 13 minutes with Mark Fraser levelling 5 minutes before half-time. With no further scoring, the tie went into an extra-time period. Graham Campbell put the Fort in front for the first time on 110 minutes and with Skye pushing for an equaliser, Mark Fraser scored twice more late in the tie. Skye Camanachd A, Skye Camanachd B and the Skye Camanachd Development team did not have Women’s Camanachd Association fixtures this weekend. Skye Camanachd U17 and Skye Camanachd U14 did not have fixtures this week. |
