05 June 2021 This week’s Skye Camanachd results are in! The Skye Camanachd first team drew 0-0 with Kinlochshiel in their Mowi Senior League A match at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 5 June 2021. Whilst ‘Shiel had most of the pressure in the match, Skye had the better chances, working keeper Josh Grant on several occasions. The Skye defence of John Gillies, Martin Pringle, James Morrison and William MacKinnon, joined by Jamie Gillies midway through the second half, were all excellent meaning goalie Ryan Morrison had very few saves to make. Skye almost won it with the last hit of the game. William MacKinnon’s floated free-hit from the right of midfield, towards the Skeabost end of the ground, was taken down by Ross MacKinnon who played in James Pringle and he found Jordan Murchison who turned quickly and his hook-shot whistled just outside the top corner of the net on the keeper’s left side. This was a very entertaining encounter between two good sides and it is just a shame the supporters from both clubs were not able to be there to see it. The Skye Camanachd second team lost 5-1 against a strong Glengarry side in their Mowi North League A meeting at Craigard on Saturday 5 June 2021. Raymond Robertson grabbed a hat-trick for ‘Garry with former Scottish international Shaun Nicolson scoring twice. Taylor Matheson was on target for Skye. The young Skye players battled to the end and were unlucky not to score a couple more times. Skye Camanachd U17 did not have a fixture as the North MacTavish Juvenile Cup first round ties took place and the Islanders had a bye. Skye Camanachd U14 did not have a fixture as the MacMaster Cup first round ties took place and the Islanders had a bye. The Skye Camanachd primary school aged team were 19-1 winners in their Camanachd Association Cup second round tie away to Glenurquhart on Friday 4 June 2021 (scorers to follow). All matches were played in accordance with the current restrictions which meant supporters were not permitted to attend. |
