Skye Camanachd Saturday Shinty Shorts | |
21 May 2016 Just two Skye Camanachd fixtures went ahead this week. A dramatic late equaliser gave Skye Camanachd a share of the points in a 1-1 draw with Kinlochshiel in their Marine Harvest Premiership match at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 21 May 2016. Kinlochshiel made the better start and a turn and shot on his right side from Duncan “DA” MacRae, after collecting a Donald Nixon ball forward, put his side ahead on 13 minutes. Both keepers – Jamie Gannon for Skye and Scott Kennedy for Kinlochshiel – made good saves and the visitors stayed in front until second half stoppage time. There was late drama as Gilleasbuig MacDonald sent a corner from the Skye left to the back post where Jordan Murchison fired a forceful shot through a ruck of players into the net to give Skye an equaliser. The large crowd were well-entertained and the sides meet again in Portree in the Artemis MacAulay Cup quarter-finals next month. The heavy overnight rain led to the postponement of the Marine Harvest North Division 1 match between the Skye Camanachd and Lovat second teams at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 21 May 2016. The noon throw up was sacrificed as the Portree pitch was unable to take two matches. The Skye Camanachd Ladies did not have a fixture. The Skye Camanachd Ladies Development team did not have a fixture. Skye Camanachd U17 were given a bye into the MacTavish Juvenile Cup second round as Lochaber U17 were unable to raise a team for their tie at Spean Bridge on Tuesday 17 May 2016. Skye Camanachd A U14 beat Beauly U14 12-0 at Braeview Park in their MacMaster Cup first round tie on Friday 20 May 2016. Ross Gordon on 2 minutes and Dan MacDonald on 5 minutes got Skye off to a great start. In the end, Gordon and MacDonald grabbed hat-tricks; Niall MacPhee bagged a brace whilst Abby MacLean, Murphy Henderson, Gilleasbuig MacVicar and Christina MacDonald got the others. |
