Skye Camanachd Saturday Shinty Shorts - UPDATED! | |
21 March 2015 It was another busy weekend for Skye Camanachd. The Skye Camanachd first team made their long awaited start to this year’s Marine Harvest National Division when they drew 1-1 with Caberfeidh to Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 21 March 2015. After a goalless first half, Scott MacLean gave Cabers the lead after 63 minutes. Skye goalie Iain MacLeod saved from Ruairidh MacLennan by his left post but MacLean was first to react and he scored from close-range. The goal came against the run of play but Skye fought back to level on 76 minutes. Substitute Iain Murray played a free-hit into the Cabers goal area and Kenny Campbell caused panic in the visiting defence which allowed Danny Morrison to nip in to force the ball over the line to make it 1-1 and that’s the way it ended. The Skye Camanachd second team are early Marine Harvest North Division 2 leaders following their 5-1 win over Aberdeen University at Balgownie on Saturday 21 March 2015. Mark Fraser put the Students ahead with the only goal of the first half. John Gillies levelled after the restart before Chris MacLennan chipped in with a quick-fire hat-trick. John Gillies got his second to round off a fine 5-2 win. Skye Camanachd Ladies had a rearranged Marine Harvest National Division 1 meeting with Lochaber Ladies at Spean Bridge on Sunday 22 March 2015. The Skye Ladies returned home with a point following a 0-0 draw.
