19 June 2016 Skye Camanachd made progress in three cup completions this weekend. The Skye Camanachd first team beat Glasgow Mid Argyll 2-1 in their Camanachd Cup second round replay against at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 18 June 2016. All the goals came in the second half. GMA took the lead on 46 minutes when a fierce 25 yard shot from Euan Forsyth beat an unsighted Iain Macleod to put the visitors in front. The goal seemed to jolt Skye into action and they drew level on 52 minutes when Will Cowie sent a ball on goal which keeper Oates saved but the ball kicked up and Jordan Murchison was on hand to score to make it 1-1. Skye made changes as the game moved into the final 15 minutes and they paid off on 79 minutes. Iain MacLeod struck a long goal-hit which was played on by Kenny Campbell to James Pringle who had been pushed forward from wing centre to wing forward. Pringle crossed to Will Cowie who took a good first touch to beat his man and he finished off the best move of the match to put Skye 2-1 in front. Skye now travel to the Eilan to face Newtonmore in the Camanachd Cup quarter-finals. The Skye Camanachd second team beat the Lochaber second team 5-1 in their Strathdearn Cup second round tie at Spean Bridge on Saturday 18 June 2016. Iain MacLellan settled Skye into the tie with goals on 3 and 9 minutes and he went on to complete his hat-trick on 26 minutes. Ryan Gunn netted for Lochaber on 31 minutes to make it 3-1 at the break. A first goal at second team level for Marin Pringle made it 4-1 on 66 minutes and Neil John Campbell made it 5-1 on 76 minutes. Skye will have home advantage against the Kinlochshiel seconds in the quarter-finals.
