09 July 2016 There were two Skye Camanachd teams in action this week and both were on the road. The Skye Camanachd first team lost 4-2 to Newtonmore in their Camanachd Cup quarter-final tie at the Eilan on Saturday 9 July 2016. Two goals from Evan Menzies on 25 and 41 minutes had the home side 2-0 ahead at the break. Norman Campbell on 55 minutes and Iain Robison on 70 minutes had ‘More four goals to the good. Skye finished strongly and Jordan Murchison bagged a late double on 84 and 88 minutes to make it 4-2 but it’s Newtonmore who go into Monday’s Camanachd Cup semi-final draw. The Skye Camanachd second team recorded a fine 3-0 win over the Beauly second team in their Marine Harvest North Division 1 meeting at Braeview Park on Saturday 9 July 2016. Ross Gordon was given a start for Skye after scoring his first goal at second team level against Strathglass a week earlier and he repaid manager Davie Pringle’s faith with a goal after 18 minutes. Another youngster, Ruaraidh MacLeod, made it 2-0 on 40 minutes. However it was older head John Angus MacInnes who sealed the win with a goal after 72 minutes. The win lifts Skye a couple of places to sixth in the table. The Skye Camanachd Ladies did not have a fixture. The Skye Camanachd Ladies development team did not have a fixture.
