06 October 2018 This week’s Skye Camanachd results are in ………. Congratulations to the Skye Camanachd Ladies who clinched a third successive Marine Harvest National Division 1 title after drawing 5-5 with nearest challengers Badenoch & Strathspey Ladies in a thrilling match in front of a big crowd at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 6 October 2018. From when Kirsty Deans gave Badenoch the lead in the opening minute, this match flowed from end to end. Sarah Corrigall levelled before Jeanette MacGregor and Zoe Reid, either side of a brilliant individual Sarah Corrigall goal, had Badenoch 3-2 ahead at the break. Skye’s Sarah Corrigall scored twice more in the second half with Caitlin MacLean also netting. Mairi Stewart and another from Kirsty Deans earned Badenoch a draw but it wasn’t enough to prevent Robbie Gordon’s Skye squad from clinching another title. It was a terrific all-round Skye performance and keeper Sarah-Jane Ferguson deserves mention for some outstanding saves, including one with her caman to turn away a second half Kirsty Deans piledriver. John Angus Gillies from sponsors Marine Harvest was on hand to present the Marine Harvest National Division 1 trophy to Skye skipper Lorna MacRae. Goals from James Pringle and Ruaraidh MacLeod cancelled out Willie Neilson’s opener to give the Skye Camanachd first team a 2-1 lead against Oban Camanachd at Mossfield. However, despite another from Ruaraidh MacLeod, Andrew MacCuish’s hat-trick gave Oban Camanachd a 4-3 win which confirms Skye’s relegation from the Marine Harvest Premiership. The Skye Camanachd second team have completed their season. The Skye Camanachd Ladies seconds play Kinlochshiel at Kirkton in a Marine Harvest North Division 2 match on Sunday 7 October 2018. The Skye Camanachd Ladies Development team were not in action. Skye Camanachd U17 have completed their London Shield programme. Skye Camanachd U14 did not have a match this week. |
