With the shinty season coming to a close, Skye Camanachd U17 enjoyed a London Shield success and two of the club’s prominent first team players helped Scotland U21 to what was only their second victory on Irish soil following the shinty action on Saturday 3 November 2018.
Skye Camanachd U17 lifted the London Shield with a 2-1 win over Fort William U17 at Blairbeg. Ruaraidh MacLeod gave Skye an early lead before the same player made it 2-0. Greig Kelly pulled a goal back before the break and Skye had keeper Murphy Henderson to thank for a great safe late in the game. Ruaraidh MacLeod’s two goals and overall performance earned him the Douglas MacKintosh Medal as player of the match.
Skye Camanachd first team players Will Cowie and John Gillies both started as Scotland U21 beat Ireland U21 25-13 in their annual shinty / hurling clash at the GAA National Games Development Centre in Dublin. This was an impressive win against a strong Irish squad.
