Skye Camanachd Ladies Lift 2015 Alistair Gow Shield | |
04 August 2015 Skye Camanachd Ladies won the Alistair Gow Shield women’s competition for the first time at the Bught Park, Inverness on Sunday 26 July 2015. Ten teams entered this popular tournament with over thirty teams participating in a number of competitions throughout the day. Skye entered two teams on the day with one drawn in each league. Lorn’s Sarah-Jane Ferguson, who is studying at Sabhal Mor Ostaig, guested for Skye A and she played in goal for the day. Skye B, who had Rebecca MacPhee from Lorn guesting, played really well on the day before eventually losing out to Badenoch & Strathspey and the Misfits (made up of players from Glasgow Mid Argyll, Aberdour and Lorne). Skye A had a great run of games in their league, racking up 19 goals with none conceded. This earned them a semi-final meeting with Badenoch & Strathspey with Skye winning 1-0 thanks to a Lorna Macrae goal. Skye A played some great shinty in the final against the Misfits, linking up well, and they recorded a 3-0 win. Lorna Macrae, Jenna Beaton and Sarah Corrigall got the goals. Skye Camanachd Ladies are a new name on the Alistair Gow Shield which has been won by either Glengarry or GMA for the last 10 years. To round off a terrific day for the Islanders, Sarah Corrigall was deservedly given the Murdo MacLean Player of the Tournament award.
