Skye Camanachd Ask For Marine Harvest North Division 1 “Third Fixture” | |
15 January 2013 Skye Camanachd have written the Camanachd Association regarding the fixture arrangements for Marine Harvest North Division 1 in 2013. The Islanders committee has expressed concern regarding the number of games their first team may have to play this season, given that it looks like there are only going to be seven teams involved in Marine Harvest North Division 1 (as it was in 2012). Skye’s preference was for an eight team league but as this will not happen, they have asked that the association retain the "third fixture" which was in place last year. Whilst not perfect, Skye feel this option is preferable to the straight "home and away" set up which will only involve 12 games. The Skye management feels that a 12 game season, particularly in the event of early cup exits, could well result in weeks of inactivity for senior players, and fear players could be lost to the game as a result. Other clubs will be consulted and Skye’s suggestion has already won support. The matter will be discussed at the Camanachd Association Board Meeting on 1 February 2013 and has also been passed to Richard Gall, Director of Competitions, for consideration by the Competitions Committee prior to confirmation of 2013 fixtures. |
