Skye Camanachd Announce Change Of Team Colours | |
01 April 2014 Skye Camanachd have confirmed that they will change the colour of their shinty strips from the start of the 2015 shinty season. This change from the traditional white shirts, blue shorts and white socks has been under consideration for the last few months. The new strips will have green shirts, green shorts and green socks and Skye Camanachd’s growing merchandise operation has been one of the main factors behind the change. The club’s merchandise is organised by Kim Millar and goods have been on sale at Davie Pringle’s Inside Out shop in Portree for over a year now. The club are selling increased numbers of their replica Hummel strips. However feedback from parents suggests that whilst their children enjoy wearing the current Skye Camanachd white strips, they are very difficult to keep clean and a darker colour would be more practical. Therefore the club, from U14, U17, Ladies, reserve and first team, will play in the new all-green strips from the start of the 2015 shinty season. Skye Camanachd first team manager John MacLeod explained, “Whilst there’s no doubt that this decision is mainly for commercial reasons, I must admit that I like the look of the green strips. We set up a player panel, which included boys like Kenny Campbell, Jordan Murchison, David Grant, Allan MacKinnon, Shockie MacLennan, Ally MacDonald, Kenny MacLeod and Iain MacLellan, to choose the new colour for the team and the green strips was their unanimous choice.” First team player Kenny Campbell said, "I've always liked the idea of playing in a green strip and I'm sure this change will help bring us success on the park." Skye hope to have the new strips on sale soon and demand for replica tops is expected to be great. |
