Skye Camanachd will celebrate the 25th anniversary of their 1990 Camanachd Cup win with a series of events at the Skye Camanachd Clubhouse on Saturday 28 November 2015.
A number of players from the Newtonmore side which played Skye at An Aird on Saturday 2 June 1990, led by current club President Norman MacArthur, will travel to Skye for the event.
The day of celebration will start off with a veteran’s shinty game on the Portree High School astro pitch. Throw up is at 2pm. The game will involve as many players from the both 1990 squads as possible along with other veterans who have played for the teams over the years.
After the shinty, there will be refreshments and no doubt lots of reminiscing at the Skye Camanachd Clubhouse. This will be followed by a buffet and social evening for the Skye players, the Newtonmore players and other invited guests including loyal followers of the club from the 1990-era right up to the present day.
To add to the occasion, Lovat Shinty Club have kindly offered to let Skye have the Camanachd Cup for the weekend and it will be on display in the Skye Camanachd Clubhouse over the weekend.
All players are asked to bring a GOOD raffle prize for evening event and any other donations will also be accepted.
