08 July 2013 Skye Camanachd had a 1-0 win over Beauly in their Marine Harvest North Division 2 match at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Friday 5 July 2013. This match was brought forward to Friday 5 July 2013 with a 7.30pm throw up at Beauly’s request. This allowed the Beauly players and committee members to attend the following day’s Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup tie against Kyles Athletic at Tighnabruaich. Skye Camanachd second team manager Murdo Morrison was working away so Donnie Martin stepped in to look after the side. Keeper Jamie Gannon is on holiday and so will miss the next three games. He was replaced by Michael Nicolson. There was also a Skye debut for U17 player Chris Campbell. Beauly were without the suspended Ryan MacKay. Skye played into a slight breeze in the first half in what was an even opening period with few chances at either end. Beauly should have opened the scoring on 18 minutes but David Grant came to Skye’s rescue by clearing the ball off the goal line. Beauly were doing more of the attacking when Skye took the lead. Magus Burd won possession and lofted the ball forward to Angie MacDonald. The Skye full forward controlled the ball and lost his marker before firing into the net to make it 1-0 with 36 minutes played. Beauly responded immediately and Michael Nicolson saved well with his feet from Martin Davidson. Beauly’s Sandy Elrick came on for Jordan Keil at the start of the second half. Skye replaced Chris Campbell with Angie Grant on 56 minutes. Angie MacDonald for Skye and Ewen Campbell for Beauly both went close without hitting the target. The substitutions continued and Iain Grant replaced Angie MacDonald for Skye after 62 minutes and there was also an introduction for Thomas Wilson moments later. Beauly introduced Liam Eaton in place of Neil Brindle as they also sides gave their replacements a run. A Magnus Burd shot was saved by Kyle MacDonald as Skye looked to add to their tally. Kyle MacDonald saved with his foot from Angie Grant on 81 minutes. There were few clear-cup chances in the game but Skye took to the points thanks to Angie MacDonald’s opportunist strike. John Angus MacInnes played well for Skye and Chris Rose, particularly in the second half, is starting to return to form following injury. Roger Cormack stood out for Beauly. His only error in the game was punished when Skye scored but he used his experience to keep Skye out in the second half.
