Seven Team 2015 Marine Harvest National Division Confirmed | |
03 March 2015 It was confirmed that the Marine Harvest National Division will be a seven team league next season following a telephone conference call between the clubs concerned and the Camanachd Association on the evening of Tuesday 3 March 2015. The clubs – Ballachulish, Beauly, Caberfeidh, Glasgow Mid Argyll, Inverness, Kilmallie and Skye Camanachd – discussed potential options for the season ahead following Glenorchy’s decision to play in Marine Harvest South Division 1 rather than shinty’s second tier. The options on the table included a third round of league fixtures, the seven sides simply playing eachother home and away, a separate regionalised cup competition involving the Marine National Division clubs and a league split mid-way through the season. However there was no real appetite for any additional matches so the seven team league will proceed in the usual format. It was also confirmed at the meeting that this decision will be supported by a review of the league structure to be delivered in early May 2015 so that clubs know what is at stake for the 2016 shinty season. Camanachd Association Director Keith Loades will take over as Competitions Director from Richard Gall from 1 May 2015. |
