11 December 2015 Ruaraidh MacLeod and Connor Gilpin were named joint 2015 Skye Camanachd A U14 Player of the Year at the club’s Annual Dinner Dance at the Skye Camanachd Clubhouse on Saturday 21 November 2015. Both players have been heavily influential in the team’s success this season and, along with team-mate Ross Gordon, they played for North U14, with MacLeod and Gordon scoring in the game, as they beat South U14 4-3 at An Aird at the end of September. Both MacLeod and Gilpin are regulars in the Skye U17 side and they have also forced themselves into the reckoning for the Skye Camanachd second team. Ruaraidh MacLeod was stop scorer for the Skye youngsters last season and he has also found the back of the net for the Skye U17s and Skye seconds. Connor Gilpin is a key defender in the team and he is a calming influence when the side is under pressure. He can also play in midfield. Skye Camanachd Youth Coach John MacLeod said, “There was a lot of competition for this award and Ruaraidh and Connor have both had excellent seasons at U14 level. They have made a significant contribution to the Skye A team. Connor has been superb in defence and also in midfield when called upon whilst Ruaraidh has led the skye forward line with 27-plus goals this season. Both players were deservedly were selected for the North U14s who defeated the South in Fort William this year and also made some second team appearances. This is a great achievement for both players.”
