Scotland Head Coach Ronald Ross has named his senior squad for the 2016 Marine Harvest Shinty / Hurling international against Ireland at the Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday 22 October 2016.
Ross has included four new caps with places for Oban Camanachd’s Lorne Dickie, Kingussie’s Thomas Borthwick, Lovat’s Greg Matheson as well as Andy MacKintosh from Newtonmore.
After announcing the squad, Ross said, “I am very pleased with the squad we have selected for this year’s International. We have a good mixture of youth and experience and all the players have worked well throughout the preparation sessions. I am confident we will provide a highly competitive match on home soil against the Irish.”
Ross will be assisted by Lochaber first team manager Ally Ferguson whilst trainer Neil Bowman is again involved.
The 2015 double-header saw the Scots win 24-14 at the Bught Park before going down 16-14 to the Irish at Croke Park four week later. This year’s contest will be a one off match in Inverness with the Marine Harvest Quaich at stake.
