Ray Coghill, Kinlochshiel | |
09 August 2013 Everyone at Skye Camanachd was saddened to hear of the passing of Ray Coghill, Kinlochshiel at his home in Badicaul on Wednesday 8 August 2013. Ray Coghill was a former Kinlochshiel player and he was a prominent figure in the Kinlochshiel youth shinty set up. Much of the recent success enjoyed by Kinlochshiel at U14 and U17 level involved many players who would have benefited from Ray’s coaching, his encouragement and his enthusiasm for the game of shinty. Indeed several of these players have now progressed to the ranks of the ‘Shiel first team squad and are holding their own in the Orion Group Premiership. Ray was a familiar figure at shinty games and his passing will be a big loss to Kinlochshiel Shinty Club and the sport of shinty in general. He was also a valued member of the Kyle of Lochalsh Lifeboat crew. Kinlochshiel’s Marine Harvest North Division 2 match with Beauly at Kirkton on Saturday 10 August 2013 has been postponed as a mark of respect. Ray’s funeral takes place at the Church of Scotland, Kyle on Monday 12 August 2013. The service starts at 2pm and the internment will take place thereafter at the Balmacara Cemetery. Skye Camanachd pass on their condolences to Ray’s family and many friends.
