03 February 2013 There was some more pre-season action on Saturday 2 February 2013 and on Sunday 3 February 2013.
Inverness 1 Newtonmore 4 Newtonmore sent a side containing a mixture of youth and experience to play Inverness at the Bught Park on Saturday 2 February 2013. The ‘More team included Rory Kennedy at full back whilst Scott Chisholm was also in defence. Blair MacKintosh took up the full centre role and Ackie MacRae was in attack. Inverness gave a debut to former Lochcarron player and Scotland international Mark Sproule. Drew MacDonald got the visitors off to a great start when he put them ahead in the opening minute with the only goal of the first half. Steven MacDonald came off the bench in the second half and he made it 2-0 with a spectacular shot from distance. Iain Greenhouse pulled a goal back for Inverness but Steven MacDonald went on to compete his hat-trick with two more shots from distance to make it 4-1. MacDonald’s contribution will surely give new boss Paul John MacKintosh ideas about playing him in a more attacking role this season.
Fort William 4 Glenorchy 0 Fort William beat Glenorchy 4-0 at An Aird on Saturday 2 February 2013. Ryan Campbell scored twice whilst Jack Fraser was also on target. Alexander MacMillan got the Fort’s other goal.
Lochaber 3 Fort William 4 The Fort William second team edged their derby clash against Lochaber by the odd goal in seven on Saturday 2 February 2013. Ally Ferguson is now in charge of the Lochaber reserves and their goals came from Stuart Matheson twice and Scotland U17 player Pat Toal. However a Graeme Campbell double and strikes from former Lochaber player Scott Knox and Alexander MacMillan won the game for the Fort.
Liz Young Memorial Sixes The Pink Panthers side, which included Louis Munro, Lee Bain, Savio Genini, and second team manager Michael Falconer, won the Liz Young Memorial Sixes at the Danbury Shinty Field, Kingussie on Saturday 2 February 2013. A total of five teams took part in the event under the watchful eye of first team co-managers Russell Jones and Davie Anderson.
North Skye 0 South Skye 1 South Skye won the 2013 Ewen Morrison Memorial Cup with a 1-0 win over North Skye at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 2 February 2013. The only goal of the game came on 74 minutes and it fell into the bizarre category. North full back David Grant was under pressure from Somhairle MacDonald and Eoghan Stewart as he as he chased the ball towards his own goal. However disaster struck for the holders as Grant inadvertently kicked the ball past a helpless Michael Nicolson in the North goal to put the South 1-0 ahead.
Inverness P Glenurquhart P The reserve team match between Inverness and Glenurquhart at the Bught Park on Saturday 2 February 2012 was postponed.
Caberfeidh P Kilmallie P The reserve team match between Caberfeidh and Kilmallie at Castle Leod on Saturday 2 February 2012 was postponed.
Beauly 1 Lochaber 4 Lochaber travelled to Braeview Park where they beat Beauly 4-1 in their 1pm throw up on Sunday 3 February 2013. Conor Cormack was missing for the hosts whilst Lochaber were without Neil MacDonald. A Shaun Nicolson double put the Orion Group Premiership new-boys 2-0 ahead. Jack MacDonald pulled a goal back for Marine Harvest North Division 1 side Beauly but a Stuart Callison brace, which takes his pre-season tally to four goals, sealed a 4-1 Lochaber win. |
