Pre-season Friendly Results - Saturday 26 January 2013 | |
26 January 2013 With the new shinty season just five weeks away, there were some pre-season friendlies played on Saturday 26 January 2013.
Ballachulish 4 Newtonmore 2 Ballachulish beat the Newtonmore second team 4-2 at Jubilee Park in a friendly match organised by former Newtonmore player David Campbell who has rejoined Ballachulish ahead of the 2013 shinty season. The Jubilee Park pitch was in fine condition and the home side took advantage and an early David Grant double put them 2-0 in front. Scott Henderson and Lorne Brown added to their tally before the break. Newtonmore pulled a couple of goals back before the end but the home side ran out 4-2 winners.
Fort William 0 Oban Camanachd 3 Fort William went down 3-0 to newly promoted Oban Camanachd at a bitterly cold An Aird. This was Victor Smith and Adam Robertson’s first match in charge of the Fort against an Oban side managed by Gus Campbell but both teams were several players short of their full side. Oban Camanachd’s Robert Alexander scored the only goal of the first half. The Mossfield side added two more second half goals to make it 3-0 and they ran out worthy winners against a Fort William side captained by former Oban Camanachd player Liam MacIntyre.
Glasgow Mid Argyll 1 Kinlochshiel 8 Kinlochshiel travelled south to win their second successive pre-season friendly as they had an emphatic 8-1 victory over Glasgow Mid Argyll. ‘Shiel full forward John MacRae grabbed a hat-trick whilst his brother Keith MacRae went one better with four goals. Teenage forward Jordan Fraser got the other. The win follows a 4-3 victory over Lochaber at Kirkton a fortnight ago.
Lochside Rovers 0 Lochcarron 2 Lochcarron travelled to Oban where they beat Lochside Rovers 2-0. Iain Cameron and Alan MacKay were on target for the west coast side who picked up a morale boosting win just days after announcing that they would field just one team during the 2013 shinty season. |
