Portree Primary School were winners in the P6/7 sixes tournament at the popular Milngavie & Bearsden tournament at Auchenhowie, Milngavie on Saturday 3 October 2015.
Almost 200 primary school aged shinty players from eleven clubs across Scotland took part in the 16th Annual Milngavie and Bearsden tournament.
The clubs represented were; Milngavie & Bearsden, Glasgow Gaels, Portree, Newtonmore, Strathkelvin, Edinburgh, Park, Strachur, Aberdour, CCL and Ballachulish.
Glasgow Gael were the P4/5 Shield winners, with an extra-time victory in the final. CCL secured the P4/5 Plate tournament, again winning the final after extra-time.
The P6/7 tournament was equally exciting. Portree beat Newtonmore in the semi-finals with Glasgow Gaels defeating Ballachulish at the same stage. Glasgow Gaels went ahead in the final and they stayed in front until Portree equalised minutes from time. The Portree youngsters took control during the extra-time period and Taylor Matheson was their hero with a hat-trick in a 4-1 win. Newtonmore were the P6/7 Plate winners.
Glasgow Gaels were the Development winners.
