Portree High School Girls Reach Donella Crawford Cup Semi Finals | |
04 March 2014 The Portree High School Girls team reached the semi finals of the Annual Donella Crawford Sixes which took place in Ardnamurchan on Tuesday 4 March 2014. The Portree High School squad was made up of players from Skye Camanachd Ladies and they have been competing in this tournament since 2008. They took part in an eight team round-robin tournament organised by the Schools Camanachd Association with the top four teams qualifying for the semi finals. Portree lost 1-0 to Glenurquhart but beat eventual winners Lochaber 3-2. They also beat Ardnamurchan B 5-0 but lost 2-1 to Kingussie. Portree then recorded 3-0 wins against both Kinlochleven and Dingwall and a draw with Ardnamurchan A took them through to the semi final stage. A late goal meant Portree eventually lost out to Kingussie High School in the last four. Lochaber High School won the other semi final against Glenurquhart and they went on to beat Kingussie 4-2 after extra time in the final to lift the prestigious Donella Crawford Cup. This was the sixth time this tournament has been playing with Lochaber High School now winning on four occasions. Fiona Gordon and Hermione Lamond travelled with the Portree squad.
