Portree and North End were the winners at the first of the Annual Primary School First Shinty Tournaments which took place at Portree High School on Saturday 8 February 2014.
First up was P7 (and under) tournament which started at 10.30am and after an exciting morning’s shinty, Portree came out on top with Dunvegan in second place.
The P1-3 tournament followed at 2pm and, after a round-robin series of games, North End and Portree came out on top. This meant a play-off between the two sides and it took a “golden goal” to finally separate them as Cameron Long and Ross MacLeod combined to give North End the Shield which was presented to their captain, Archie Millar.
The matches were refereed by Danny Steele.
Portree and Dunvegan now go forward to the P7 (and National First Shinty Tournament which takes place in Fort William on Saturday 1 March 2014.
