Orion Group Extend Shinty Sponsorship | |
24 February 2014 The Orion Group has extended their sponsorship of shinty’s Premiership for another season. The Orion Group began their sponsorship of shinty’s top division in 2012 when the company was celebrating its 25th year of operation and the current deal will see them sponsor shinty’s top flight until the end of the 2014 shinty season. This season will again see a continuation of the Orion Group Premiership Derby Day. The first round of derby matches is scheduled for Saturday 3 May 2014 and a possible Badenoch derby has been penciled in for the evening of Friday 1 August 2014. Newtonmore captain Scott Chisholm was on hand as details of the new deal were announced. The men from the Eilan are bidding to win their fifth consecutive Premiership title and Chisholm said, “Newtonmore had a great 2013 and we are all really looking forward to the start of the new season, but with two less teams in the league, we know competition for points is going to be tight, so we haven’t taken anything for granted.” The Orion Group’s Head of Marketing & Communications, Scott Burns-Smith said, “Orion are delighted to be sponsoring the Premiership for the forthcoming season. As a company operating not only in Scotland but across various locations internationally, sponsoring such sporting associations and projects within different cultural communities is part of our organisation’s ethos and we are pleased to offer our support to the Camanachd Association for the third consecutive year.” Camanachd Association President Archie Robertson added, “The Camanachd Association is delighted that the Orion Group has extended their sponsorship of the Premiership. The Orion Group Premiership showcases the best of shinty so it is fitting that the pairing with such a prestigious and successful Scottish company continues.” The Orion Group Premiership gets underway on Saturday 1 March 2014 with the following fixtures scheduled: Glenurquhart v Kinlochshiel Kingussie v Inveraray Lovat v Kyles Athletic Newtonmore v Lochaber All matches throw up at 2.30pm. |
