Lochcarron Opt Out Of 2015 Senior Cup Competitions | |
14 January 2015 Lochcarron will not enter the senior cup competitions during the 2015 shinty season. The Battery Park club decided to field a single team from the start of the 2013 shinty season when they competed in Marine Harvest North Division 3, finishing in second place. They also finished runners-up to Ballachulish in that year’s Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup. The new league and cup structure ahead of the start of the 2014 shinty season saw Lochcarron pitched in Marine Harvest North Division 2 where they again finished runners-up. They also lost 5-0 at home to Marine Harvest National Division side Caberfeidh in the opening round of the RBS MacTavish Cup. The recent amendments to the competitions structure, which come into effect this coming season, mean Lochcarron will complete in Marine Harvest North Division 1 and the final make-up of this division is still to be confirmed with one spot in the Marine Harvest National Division yet to be filled. Lochcarron had hoped to enter the Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup and Strathdearn Cup but they are not eligible to do so. They would be eligible to enter the 2015 Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup and RBS MacTavish Cup competitions but have decided not to do so. Lochcarron will enter the intermediate Balliemore Cup.
