Skye coach Davie Pringle named an unchanged squad for this 7pm throw up. However he was himself a late call-off after he was called out on fire brigade duty to put out a heath fire so John MacLeod and Douglas MacDougall looked after the side. The sides had met in the London Shield at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree earlier in the season with Skye coming from 2-0 down to win 4-2. A Ross Gordon strike was well saved by ‘Shiel keeper Liam Campbell on 10 minutes. Skye took the lead on 15 minutes when a low Ross Gordon shot from 20 yards out nestled in the bottom of the net. Skye threatened again on 24 minutes when some good movement from the visiting forwards ended with Ruaraidh MacLeod shooting wide. It wasn’t all one-way traffic though with Kinlochshiel’s best chances coming on the break and they went close on a couple of occasions. Lam Campbell saved well from Ruaraidh MacLeod on 25 minutes. Skye continued to press and just a minute later; Campbell in ‘Shiel goal saved well again and MacLeod sent the rebound over the bar. Skye doubled their lead on the half hour mark. Skye forward and Ruaraidh MacLeod and home keeper Liam Campbell raced for the ball with MacLeod winning the tackle and then firing the ball into the empty net to make it 2-0. Just 5 minutes later, James Pringle looked set to score but his shot hit the side-netting. A nicely worked free-hit from James Pringle on 38 minutes found Ruaraidh MacLeod who scored despite keeper Liam Campbell getting a foot to the ball. Skye took this 3-0 lead into the break. ‘Shiel came out with more intent at the start of the second half with Liam Arnott impressing in the midfield. Skye went back on the offensive and Ruaraidh MacLeod solo effort ended with the ball going past the post on 42 minutes. A couple of minutes later, a Ruaraidh MacLeod shot from 12 yards out was saved by Liam Campbell but MacLeod followed up to score. A superb 25 yard rocket-shot from James Pringle on 50 minutes made it 5-0. Liam Campbell saved well from Martin Pringle a couple of minutes later. Ross Gordon sent a shot past the on 55 minutes. Skye make a change on the hour with Calum Robertson replacing Ross Gordon. The Islanders made another switch 5 minutes after with John Gillies withdrawn after taking a slight knock and he was replaced by Stewart Taylor. Mark MacQueen came on for Ryan MacAskill A terrific individual effort from James Pringle made it 6-0 on 66 minutes. Pringle won the ball out on the Skye left before taking it past Iain Campbell and slotting home. A Stewart Taylor shot went wide as the match moved into the final 10 minutes and referee John Matheson’s final whistle signalled a MacTavish Juvenile Cup Final appearance for the Skye youngsters. Ross Nicolson, Jamie Gillies, Connor Gilpin and James Morrison were all really solid performers in the Skye defence. Angus MacDonald did well in midfield with Ryan Macaskill whilst up front; danger-men James Pringle and Ruaraidh MacLeod led the forward line by example with Martin Pringle putting in a fine performance at wing forward. Liam Arnott was excellent at full centre for Kinlochshiel and Duncan MacRae showed some nice touches in the forward line.
