05 December 2015 Skye Camanachd forward Jordan Murchison is the first recipient of the John “The Caley” Nicolson trophy which was presented at the club’s Annual Dinner Dance at the Skye Camanachd Clubhouse on Saturday 21 November 2015. The John “The Caley” Nicolson trophy is given to the Skye Camanachd first team Player of the Year and it is awarded in memory of Skye Camanachd stalwart John Nicolson who passed away in October 2013. Jordan Murchison has had a terrific season in the Skye Camanachd first team, scoring 32 goals this season. He was a key player as the team clinched the Marine Harvest National Division title and promotion to shinty’s top flight for the first time since 2002. His performances were acknowledged when he was named in Garry Reid’s Scotland U21 squad for the annual international against Ireland U21. He was also named 2015 Marine Harvest National Division Player of the Year at the Marine Harvest Awards at the Drumossie Hotel, Inverness on Friday 23 October 2015. Skye Camanachd first team manager John MacLeod said, “This award is voted for by the players and coaches. It was contested this year by three players - Jordan Murchison, Neil MacVicar and Iain MacLeod - all of whom had excellent seasons. There was one early leader but he was overtaken by two others who finished the season strongly. Jordan has showed a change in attitude and personal determination throughout the 2015 shinty season. His contribution, scoring 32 goals, was vital this season as we won the National Division and he played in all 19 of our competitive matches. He earned a Scotland U21 cap and was a match winner in many games. He has also played with passion and with a smile on his face as well which is great to see and he richly deserves this award.” Jordan Murchison was presented with the trophy by Janet MacVicar.
