Isle of Skye Primary Schools Camanachd Association - Update | |
09 June 2014 There is lots of primary school age shinty action going on throughout Skye at present with the local tournaments well underway. The 2014 Bank of Scotland Tournament, in which players from all schools play in mixed teams, was won by White Skye, coached by Skye Camanachd’s 1990 Camanachd Cup winning captain Caley MacLean. Six twelve-a-side teams took part and Davie Pringle was the main event organiser, supported by Una Maclennan, Mairi Evans and the referees who helped out on the day. The 2014 Talisker League was won by Portree A. South End, North End, Dunvegan, Portree B also competed in the league. The Isle of Skye Round Table Sixes take place on Friday 27 June 2014. The Portree Primary School side is also having another successful season in national competitions. They have qualified as North representatives for the Tulloch League Cup Final which takes place at the Bught Park, Inverness before the RBS MacTavish Final between Glenurquhart and Lovat on Saturday 21 June 2014. The Portree youngsters beat Kingussie, Newtonmore and Glenurquhart on their way to the final. Portree Primary School is also taking part in the national Mackay Cup qualifying tournament in Fort William on Tuesday 10 June 2014. This is a one day qualifying event and the winning team will be the North representatives in the MacKay Cup Final against the South qualifiers. The final will take place before the Artemis MacAulay Cup tie between Kingussie and Newtonmore at the Dell on Saturday 14 June 2014. We’ll provide further updates as these games take place. |
