26 September 2017 Alba have named their squad for Iomain Cholmcille X in Fort William on Saturday 14 October 2017. The International Shinty-Hurling Festival for Gaelic speakers marks ten years with its biggest event yet at Mòd Lochaber. Iain Sinclair has been named the Alba manager. He was previously manager of Lewis Camanachd for three seasons, and he will be supported by Sean MacLeod and Doneil MacLeod, who will also be playing for the team. There is a good mix of players with experience of the event over the last decade alongside young players taking part for the first time, including Premiership stars Oliver MacRae (Kinlochshiel), Daniel MacVicar (Oban Camanachd) and Iain Robinson (Newtonmore). Alba also welcome back Iomain Cholmcille legend Alasdair “AB” Connor who has been taking part in shinty with Melbourne Camanachd in Australia. The men’s team face Micheal Breathnach GAA and Fir Uladh GAA. Dr. Ciorstag NicLeòid and Karen MacKinnon will be in charge of the women’s team again. They will face the camogs of Cois Fharraige.
