Inveraray player / manager Ruaraidh Graham was able to call on the services of first team forward Chris Crawford who made his return to action after several weeks out with a hand injury. The home side was a mixture of youth and experience with six youth players in the starting line-up and another three on the five-man substitutes’ bench. The youngsters included keeper Scott MacLachlan and forward Fraser Watt – two of the most promising young players in the game. Skye lost another defender early in the first half as DJ Gilpin took unwell. He was replaced by his brother Connor Gilpin and the Skye Camanachd U14 player joined the attack with John Gillies dropping back into defence. The first half looked to be ending goalless until Lewis Montgomery gave the home side a 41 minutes lead. The drive left the keeper helpless and moved Inveraray into a 2-0 lead. Skye’s Angie MacDonald reduced the deficit 15 minutes from time when he slipped the ball past keeper Scott MacLachlan following a goalmouth scramble. Referee John MacGregor gave Skye the chance to take the tie into extra-time when he awarded them a penalty late in the game.
