Gregor Cameron Consultancy Glasgow Celtic Society Cup – Second Round
Bute 2 Oban Camanachd 4 (Oban Camanachd won 4-2 after extra-time)
Marine Harvest South Division 1 side Bute played two hours of shinty for the third successive Saturday before losing 4-2 to Marine Harvest Premiership side Oban Camanachd in their noon throw up at the Meadows. Bute beat Glenorchy and Skye on penalties in their last two outings so they went into this tie with confidence. Oban Camanachd took an early lead when Andrew MacCuish scored after just 3 minutes. Gordon MacMillan levelled on 65 minutes and that’s the way it stayed so referee Robert Baxter took the tie to an extra-time period. Andrew MacCuish got his and his side’s second goal after 98 minutes and Aidan MacIntyre made it 3-1 on 102 minutes. When Lorne Dickie made it 4-1 on 111 minutes, Bute’s resistance was broken. However John MacCallum did pull goal back for the Islanders a couple of minutes later but Oban Camanachd took the spoils.
