Glenurquhart & Strathglass Collect Defibrillators | |
18 September 2013 Heartstart Camanachd in partnership with Lucky2BHere were delighted to present automated external defibrillators to Glenurquhart and Strathglass shinty clubs ahead of the Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Final at An Aird on Saturday 17 September 2013. Skye Camanachd’s Ross Cowie founded Lucky2BHere six years ago after recovering from a cardiac arrest in Portree. Lucky2BHere aims to help rural communities to help themselves in times of emergency by providing public access defibrillators that can help to preserve life until the emergency services can attend. These defibrillators together with Emergency Life Support training provided by local Heartstart teams can make a real difference. Heartstart Camanachd is the Camanachd Association’s Emergency Life Support (ELS) training team and it was set up with the aim of providing ELS training for all shinty clubs and encourage clubs to have their own pitch side defibrillators in partnership with Lucky2BHere. Kingussie and Newtonmore were the first two clubs to enter the scheme and they are now joined by Glenurquhart and Strathglass who have now also gone through the ELS training. Any shinty clubs interested in finding out more about the Heartstart Camanachd scheme should contact the Camanachd Association office or e mail graham.cormack@shinty.com Pictured left to right are, Laura Stoddart and Russell Fraser from Glenurquhart, Lucky2BHere’s Ross Cowie and Brian Mackay and Sheena Mackay from Strathglass along with Russell Jones and Euan McMurdo from the Camanachd Association. |
