Glengarry Ladies 1 Skye Camanachd Ladies 3 - UPDATED! | |
14 July 2013 The Skye Camanachd Ladies had a 3-1 WCA North Division 2 win against Glengarry Ladies at Invergarry on Sunday 14 July 2013. Skye Camanachd Ladies coach Sarah Corrigall went into this 2pm throw up without several players for a variety of reasons and the absentees included Jenna Beaton, Anna MacDonald, Caitlin MacLean, Fiona Lamond and Nicole MacRae. The Skye centre line of Helen Lamond, flanked by Izzy Law and Ilana Paterson took control early in the game which meant plenty possession for the Skye forwards. Lorna MacRae scored the only goal of the first half to give Skye the lead. Her low drive nestled in the back of the ‘Garry net to give MacRae her fifteenth goal of the season. Glengarry tried hard to level before the break but Rosiland Lamond and Catriona Gibb stayed strong in the Skye defence. Ilana Paterson was pushed forward from the start of the second half and she made it 2-0 although her shot may have taken a touch off ‘Garry’s Laura MacKay. Glengarry’s Ashleigh Fraser pulled a goal back midway through the second half to make it 2-1. However Kristen MacBeth restored the visitors’ two goal advantage when she squeezed the ball home through a packed defence to make it 3-1 to give Skye the points. This was Skye’s fifth straight league victory and they maintain their 100% record in the league. They trail league leaders Lochaber by two points with the Spean Bridge side winning all six of their matches.
