06 June 2021 There was a minutes silence ahead of throw up as shinty remembered those committed volunteers, coaches and friends who have passed away during the last 15 months. Steven MacLachlan was the match referee for this 2.30pm throw up. The game was played under current restrictions which meant supporters were not permitted to attend. Skye were without Somhairle MacDonald and Gilleasbuig MacDonald whilst ‘Garry were missing John MacKinnon. Raymond Robertson gave ‘Garry the lead on 19 minutes whilst Shaun Nicolson, who has joined the club from Lochaber, made it 2-0 on 27 minutes. Raymond Robertson again on the half hour made it 3-0 at the break. Shaun Nicolson got his second just 5 minutes after the restart but Skye youngster Taylor Matheson made it 4-1 on 63 minutes. Raymond Robertson completed his hat-trick on 76 minutes to get ‘Garry off to a flying start in their league campaign. The young Skye players battled to the end and were unlucky not to score a couple more times. Allan MacLeod could not of asked more of his players and there were plenty positives to take from the game including the performances of the younger players. Next up for Skye is a derby against Lochcarron at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree this Saturday.
