Gilleasbuig MacDonald Confirmed As Skye Camanachd Captain | |
13 March 2014 Skye Camanachd first team manager John MacLeod has confirmed that Gilleasbuig MacDonald will be his captain for the 2014 shinty season. MacDonald is currently working in Stornoway with Radio nan Gaidheal and he travels for Skye games. He was previously captain in 2008 when he lifted the Balliemore Cup when the Islanders beat Kilmallie 3-1 in Beauly. The Skye Camanachd vice captain for the 2014 shinty season will be Shockie MacLennan who previously captained the team in 2011. Speaking about the decision, Skye Camanachd first team manager John MacLeod said, "The 2014 shinty season is so important to the club and to our supporters so the coaching staff looked long and hard at the players who would have the club at heart and who would give good representation of their fellow players. It was a tough choice, and there were several very suitable candidates outwith these two, but we felt with Gibbs MacDonald as captain and Jonathan "Shockie" MacLennan as vice-captain, we had a pairing who will represent the club well in this season of transition." |
