Fort William Solicitors McIntyre & Company supporting ladies shinty at Iomain Cholmcille 8 | |
06 October 2015 When the Alba Gaelic speaking ladies team takes the field at Machair Gamhlán in Gweedore on Saturday 10 October 2015, they will do so with the strong backing of a Highland solicitors firm. Fort William based solicitors, McIntyre & Company have kindly provided sponsorship to assist the team in their trip to the Iomain Cholmcille festival in Ireland. This is the first time there has been a women’s team at this unique sporting event for Gaelic speakers and it was therefore important that there was the right equipment and smart uniforms for the girls. The company’s logo will appear bilingually on the team’s shirts and it was very fitting that Alba player Ashleigh Fraser, who went through Gaelic medium education in Fort William, was present to mark the company’s support. Ashleigh said, “Many thanks to McIntyre & Company for their support. It has been a great help in pour first trip to Ireland. My brothers play for the Alba men’s team and I hope that we enjoy the trip has much as they have enjoyed previous trips. It is a great event for strengthening our Gaelic whilst also playing Shinty / Hurling / Camogie. We are sure to continue in the future and the new strips and the other support from McIntyre & Company will leave a long lasting legacy.” McIntyre & Company’s Carol Ross said. “Shinty is an important sport in our culture, history and present times and is becoming increasingly popular now as a ladies sport. McIntyre & Company are delighted to be able to support the Gaelic Ladies shinty team this year and wish them all the best playing against our Celtic cousins in Ireland.” The team has also been supported by Colmcille, who also support Iomain Cholmcille, and aims to strengthen and develop the links between Gaelic speakers in Ireland and Scotland.
