Exciting Finish Ahead At Top Of WCA Marine Harvest National Divison 1 | |
04 August 2015 An exciting finish lies ahead at the top of WCA Marine Harvest National Divison 1 with two teams now in contention for the title. Reigning champions Glasgow Mid Argyll top the table and they safely negotiated a tricky trip to Pairc nan Laoch, Portree last weekend when they returned home with both points following a 4-2 win over Skye Camanachd. GMA now have just one match left and if they beat bottom side Lorn at Yoker, they will reach the 21 point mark with a healthy goal difference into the bargain. Second place Badenoch & Strathspey are slight title favourites having beaten Glengarry 4-0 at the weekend. They currently have 18 points from ten matches and their only dropped points have come from away draws against Glasgow Mid Argyll and Skye Camanachd. Badenoch & Strathspey host Skye Camanachd this weekend and they finish with a home game with Lorn. If GMA were to reach the 21 point mark, then Badenoch & Strathspey would need to take maximum points from their remaining two games to be sure of clinching the title given GMA’s current goal difference advantage. Skye Camanachd are currently third in the table. They have played eight matches and four wins and two draws mean they have amassed 10 points. Skye’s defeat to GMA at the weekend was costly as even if the Islanders win their remaining four games, they can only reach the 18 point mark and so they are out of the title race for this year. Skye’s remaining four matches are away to Badenoch & Strathspey and Aberdour and at home to both Glengarry and Lorn. There are sure to be more twists and turns before the season is over. |
