Chris Young, Inverness | |
19 June 2018 There was great sadness at Skye Camanachd to the news that Chris Young had passed away on Friday 15 June 2018. Chris Young and her husband Bill were regular attenders at Skye Camanachd games, especially on the mainland, and will be remembered for cheering on the team and providing teas etc at half-time. Chris, aged 90, had not kept the best health in recent years but always held a keen interest in the fortunes of the club. Her family history with Skye Camanachd stretches back to the very origins of the club, formed in 1892, and it was appropriate that Chris and Bill were both made Skye Camanachd Vice-Presidents. Shinty was in the blood as Chris could look to:
Chris & Bill’s Inverness home always had an open door, especially if you had a Skye Camanachd connection, and it was a popular stop-off point for those travelling to and from the Island. Chris Young’s funeral will take place at the Inverness Crematorium on Tuesday 26 June 2018. The Service starts at 11am and will be conducted by former Skye Camanachd player Duncan MacPherson, a minister in Inverness. As a mark of respect, there will be a minute’s silence ahead of this weekend’s Marine Harvest Premiership fixture between Skye Camanachd and Kinlochshiel at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree and the deepest sympathies from everyone at Skye Camanachd go out to Bill, son Angus, daughter Rosslynn and the extended family at this time. |
